2022 Interim and Formative Assessment Training Series
This engaging training series will provide direct, online training focused on leveraging the interim and formative components of the Smarter Balanced comprehensive system of assessments to inform teaching and learning. It is designed for teachers, instructional coaches, and educators on special assignment, but local educational agency California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) and English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC) coordinators and administrators may also find this training series useful to support local educators.
The 2022 Interim and Formative Assessment Training Series consists of three distinct, independent modules with multiple opportunities to attend.
Module 1: Using the Formative Assessment Process and Tools for Teachers Website to Boost Instruction
What: Deep dive into formative assessment practices and resources, including an exploration of the Tools for Teachers website
Module 2: Gauging Student Progress with the Smarter Balanced Interim Assessments and Related Online Systems
What: Deep dive into the Smarter Balanced Interim Assessments and associated online systems and how to use these resources to support teaching and learning
Module 3: Interim Assessment Hand Scoring
What: In-depth instruction and practice in hand scoring for Smarter Balanced English language arts/literacy (ELA) or Smarter Balanced mathematics performance tasks and constructed-response items, including reflection on implications for teaching and learning
