I’m super excited about the up coming school year in Fresno Unified at the new Farber Educational Center! This past summer, I, along with all my other colleagues and teachers, worked hard to get ready for the 2024-25 academic school year.
Farber is a brand new way campus and is an attempt to change the way education is done. Change how teachers teach and how students learn.
The campus itself looks like few other schools in America. To me, it looks like something a venture capitalist in Silicon Valley would build; and that’s awesome to have a school that doesn’t look, feel, or behave like a traditional school.
I’m excite to start school next year at the new campus. I’ll be teaching a Community Leadership and Basic Computer Literacy course as well as two blocks of Cybersecurity.
Are we ready? No. Nope. Of course not. We’re still planning, thinking, and taken action.
This is a good thing. Not being ready is really just a part of life and a part of doing something brand new! Students often struggle when the path forward isn’t crystal clear or clearly safe. Modeling action with unknowns to students will show them that they can do it too. That life is not scary. It’s not crazy. It’s life.
