Woven through the fabric of virtually every community on earth, service clubs of Kiwanis International, Lions Clubs International, Optimist International, and Rotary International are working safely and diligently to maintain connections with each other and our neighbors so that we can cope with and overcome the effects of COVID-19. We are leveraging the strength of our combined networks of 3.2 million members to provide comfort and hope to those feeling the effects of isolation and fear.
On Thursday, March 12th, 2020, I had the opportunity to serve in addressing food scarcity, students, Fresno State, North Fresno Rotary, and my alum (Fresno State), and First Lady Mary "Mamma" Castro; and things didn't go as planned.
One of the best things about OpenSource software is that there are always (most of the time) people willing to help out a newbie.
I'm excited to say that I get to volunteer with Rotary District 5230 on a project to finally accept online payments. This has been a long time coming and has taken some long chats about technology with the Silent Generation, the Baby Boomers, Gen X, Xennials, and the Millennials, Gen Y, Gen Next. In the end, the Spirit of Rotary and collaboration took hold and it looks like the project is a green-lighted.
