Grant Writing - Basic

Why I Learned About Grant Writing

Through my work and association with Rotary International at the Zone and District levels, and North Fresno Rotary and North Fresno Rotary Endowment at the Club and member level; I realized the value of learning to locate and acquire grant funding.

I intend on integrating my PMP training with grant writing to submit and successfully receive grant support for Fresno State community service programs and for Rotary International.

About Grant Writing

This is an intensive and practical certificate program designed for current grant writing professionals and newcomers to the field. Participants will learn how to locate grant-funding opportunities, make informed decisions about which opportunities to pursue, and develop strategies for preparing, writing, and editing grant applications. Participants will also learn how to effectively bring together a writing team and manage their time effectively with a time/page allocation formula.

In addition, the program will demonstrate the value of writing from a reviewer’s perspective and incorporate techniques to maximize the number of points scored.  Participants will improve their writing and editing skills by rewriting example proposal sections. In-depth reviews of specific sections—including key personnel, budget, evaluation, and self-sufficiency—will be incorporated into the program. Participants are encouraged (but not required) to bring laptops in order to facilitate writing, rewriting and sharing their comments with others.
