Update | October 2019
As of September ends and October begins Fresno Fitness LLC is gearing up to take on Rotary 5230's online platforms.
I will be taking over from William Van Heusen from our Sunset Club and working with Jeff Dimple, the Director of Communications.
The new site for www.rotary5230.org is built on the Wordpress content management system. Wordpress comes with a host of beloved plugins and features code that pulls from the DacDB database. WordPress is a well known, efficient, and popular content management system based on PHP and MySQL. The best part of Wordpress is that it has a rich set of features based on a plugin architecture and template system.
Rotary 5230 website and also features the powerful District and Club database (DaCdb) application which has online tools and resources that track both Club and District membership. This integration will allow me to post news to the District website and also provide registration for District or Club events that are found on the Calendar.
I will be 2 of the 5 distinct departments, each run by an individual Director, who together work to coordinate communications between the District and the Clubs and the Members. In addition, all I along with the 4 directors, am available to assist the clubs and their members at any time in their own areas of expertise.
Social Media Director: Peter Fortuna
In addition to serving as the Social Media Director and Webmaster, Peter Fortuna is also a member of North Fresno Rotary and has worked at Fresno State University for 18 years and is currently an Information Technology Consultant. During the year, Peter has worked on ADA and Website Accessibility on campus. Peter has a BS in Computer Science, MA in Education, is a Project Management Professional (PMP), and is also a certified conflict resolution mediator.

District Communications Committee Chair: Jeff Dippel
Committee Chairman Jeff Dippel has been a Rotarian for 22 years and is currently a member of the Fig Garden Rotary Club. He has previously held the positions of District Webmaster, District Newsletter Editor, and DACdb Director.
DacDB: Tyler Fremming
Tyler Fremming is one of the DCC’s newer Rotarians having joined the Clovis Rotary Club in 2017. Because he works as a Network Engineer for Equinix, Fremming was a natural choice to take over the administration of our DACdb program at the end of last year and he has made that transition seamlessly. The DACdb program is not currently fully understood in the district so one of Fremming’s goals is to make clubs more aware of what the program can do to help them in their club administration and activities.
District Newsletter: Mark Daniel
After having done Rotary club newsletters for the better part of 25 years, Hanford Sunset Club President Mark Daniel accepted the role of District Newsletter editor in 2016 for DG Yavuz Atila and has carried that tradition on for District Governors every year since. He has also served as club president three times and has been Assistant Governor in Rotary years 2015-2016 and again in 2016-2017. He says that he still gets a real thrill communicating the work that Rotarians do in the district via the newsletter and being a newspaperman for the past 42 years, he fully understands the role communications play in keeping Rotarians informed.
Traditional Media Director: Roger Powers
Traditional Media Director Roger Powers has been a member of the Salinas Steinbeck Rotary for 15 years and is the Co-Creator and Co-Chair of the annual Steinbeck Rotary High School and previously served as the Club Program Chair. In his current role as District Traditional Media Director Powers promotes district activities and assists any clubs in need of some direction in publicizing their own events and activities.
