One of the things I love to do is to be constantly learning.  This week the University of Phoenix had its faculty train on Ally on Blackboard Ultra for ADA compliance and to help improve student outcomes.

As time passes, more and more organizations are being required to meet the ADA compliance standards and at UOP, it is no different.

Very happy to learn Ally on Blackboard Ultra for ADA compliance.

This checklist should not be referenced in policies or in policy adoption. While this is a useful resource for the technical implementation of WCAG, it is not a comprehensive policy checklist. Official WCAG documentation provides much better mechanisms for implementing accessibility into policy or law.

From the Audit Findings: A June 2019 state audit determined the California State University (CSU) failed to disclose to legislators, students, and the public a $1.5 billion hidden surplus of discretionary funds that could be used for ongoing CSU operation costs.

 

Near the end of a nationally famous three-day festival that celebrates garlic and all who love it, a gunman armed with an assault rifle shot and killed 6-year-old Stephen Romero, of San Jose. The gunman also shot Stephen’s mother, Barbara, who remains hospitalized in critical condition. The toll from the latest mass shooting at the Gilroy Garlic Festival on July 28: 3 dead; 12 injured.

Stephen’s father, Alberto Romero, is a residential apprentice and union member of the IBEW Local 332. Stephen’s mother is a Santa Clara County worker and member of SEIU Local 521.

All employees represented by CSU Employees Union will see a pay increase in the end-of-July 2019 paycheck, when we receive our 3% percent annual increases negotiated in our 2018-2020 collective bargaining contract.  The salary increases were hard-won and possible only with strong and dedicated support from our Union members.

CSUEU and CSUSM have signed a new agreement in which both sides state their intent to improve the work environment for campus Staff.  It includes these key provisions:

Applications for two $56,000 Fellowships

Fresno, CA  – Through the generosity of The Wonderful Company, San Joaquin Valley students will have the opportunity to become the next generation of Valley leaders through The Wonderful Public Service Graduate Fellowship. This program provides financial assistance for Valley students to help them obtain an advanced degree from a top graduate program and then return to apply what they have learned to help make the San Joaquin Valley a better place to live, work, and raise a family

Fresno State is cooking up a nice little competition based on technology innovation that offers $3,000 in stipends to the winning team.

Project Ignite is a collaboration between Fresno State’s Technology Services Department and its Digital Transformation Group along with the Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

The items in this wish list will be used primarily to build photo galleries and albums that promote community service groups like Rotary International, LIGA: The Flying Doctors of Fresno, North Fresno Rotary, Fresno State University, Mediator Mentors, The National Coalition for Building Institute, and more.
